The New Hangover Part II Teaser Looks Great!
The first teaser for the next installment of The Hangover Part II premiered today. It’s great, as we mentioned in the title of this post. There’s just one line of dialogue—two, counting Ed Helms’s pained moan—accompanied by excerpts of fawning reviews of the first film. The only apparent cast addition is a monkey(-like thing), and there’s no sign of Bill Clinton’s rumored cameo.

Henry Cavill cast as Superman
Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures have found their new Man of Steel. Deadline had been hearing for the past weeks that Henry Cavill was the frontrunner for the much coveted Clark Kent/Superman role in this mich anticipated reboot. But as of last week, Warner Bros film chief Jeff Robinov hadn't seen Cavill's or the other screentests and made his decision in recent days. Repped by CAA, Cavill just wrapped production on The Cold Light of Day and stars in the upcoming Immortals, opening this fall. Directed by Tarsem Sing, Caville in Immortals plays the he-man Greek warrior Theseus who battles mythological gods including Poseidon, Zeus, Minotaur, and Herecles.Given that set up, Warner Bros clearly has chosen a more macho leading man for Superman than the previous Brandon Routh. Cavill also has a past with Superman. Before Bryan Singer came on to direct Superman Returns and cast Brandon Routh, Cavill had been one of the frontrunner choices for directers Brett Ratner and McG when they were going to helm the picture. That Superman was younger, and this time, the intention was to cast an actor near 30. Cavill will be 28 this year, so things worked out just right for him.
The new film from Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures is being produced by Christopher Nolan and directed by Zack Snyder, who made this statement: “In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.” Other producers include Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers. The new Superman is targeted for release in December 2012.

'The Roommate' Trailer
The plot centers on a college freshman named Sara (Minka Kelly), who finds out she is roommates with a seemingly nice girl named Rebecca (Leighton). Things seems to be going great as the girls befriend party girl Tracy (Aly Michalka), and Sara starts dating Stephen (Cam Gigandet), but they start going downhill fast after Sara realizes she is Rebecca's only friend. Toss in a creepy scene where Rebecca's mom asks Sara if Rebecca's been taking her medication and you've got perfect fodder for a horror film.
Leighton totally rocks the psychotic roommate angle in the trailer, and while the plot seems somewhat formulaic if only because horror films, generally speaking, are fairly formulaic, it still looks like it has plenty of terrors to keep us up at night. Add that to the fact that it features Cam Gigandet (swoon!) and we're in. Other exciting actors involved in the project include "Vampire Diaries"' Katerina Graham, "90210's" Matt Lanter, and "Titanic's" Billy Zane. Between Leighton, Katerina, Matt and Aly, though, it's kind of like one big CW party.
And goodness if Aly isn't popping up in films all over the place nowadays! She's definitely double-dipping from the "Gossip Girl" costars barrel, what with "Easy A" opening today, so hopefully she will at least have the benefit of "The Roommate" trailer opening before her other film.

On the Set: The American
“With film there’s still a lot that’s totally new to me,” says photographer-turned-director Anton Corbijn, who made his first movie, Control (2007), at age 52.
“But when it comes to photography, I think I know more or less what I can do with a camera.” So it’s natural that Corbijn, best known for his portraits of such bands as Depeche Mode and U2, would turn to his Leica again and again during the making of his second film, The American, starring George Clooney as an assassin named Jack hiding out in Italy.
Taking the photos—now the subject of a book, Inside The American, excerpted here—“was almost a relief from filming,” Corbijn says.
The mountainous Abruzzo region, where The American was shot, provided a breathtaking backdrop for Corbijn’s moody, unvarnished images of Clooney and costars Thekla Reuten and Violante Placido.
Even as Corbijn directs, he’s often thinking in stills. “We’re so good at registering narratives in films,” says Reuten. “But Anton uses the immense possibilities you have just with light and atmosphere to make an image that translates a character and situation. Not just any photographer could make a movie like this.”

First Look at Portman and Kunis in Black Swan!
Black Swan, the new film by Darren Aronofsky (Golden Lion recipient in 2008 at the 65th Venice Film Festival for The Wrestler), will be the opening film – in Competition – of the 67th Venice International Film Festival.
A psychological thriller set in the world of New York City Ballet, Black Swanstars Natalie Portman as Nina, a featured dancer who finds herself locked in a web of competitive intrigue with a new rival at the company (Mila Kunis).
Black Swan takes a thrilling and at times terrifying journey through the psyche of a young ballerina whose starring role as the duplicitous swan queen turns out to be a part for which she becomes frighteningly perfect.
The film also stars Vincent Cassel, Barbara Hershey and Winona Ryder.
"The cast and crew of Black Swan are both excited and humbled by the festival's invitation. It is an honor to walk the great red carpet on the Lido and we are excited to premier our film to the wonderful audiences in Venice," said Aronofsky.
"What an honor and privilege it is to be selected as the opening night film," said Fox Searchlight Presidents Stephen Gilula and Nancy Utley. "We could not have asked for a better launch for Darren and 'Black Swan' than the Venice International Film Festival."
