Is Gloria Govan, Co-Star of VH-1 Show 'Basketball Wives,' a Felon?

By Ruth Manuel-Logan
The hot new VH1 show 'Basketball Wives,' which is executive produced by Shaquille O'Neal's ex-wife, Shaunie, peeps into the lives of select NBA player's women. Gloria Mendoza Govan (pictured far right), who is engaged to Orlando Magic baller Matt Barnes and who struts around as if she is the highest and mightiest within the group of glamour gals, is about to fall off her high horse. Reportedly, the young diva has a slight criminal past that has caught up with her.

In 2007, Govan was involved in a "Cash-for-Grades" scandal at Diablo Valley College in California. The con involved paying students who could hack into the school's computer system to change grades. The hackers charged upwards of $500 for each grade alteration. The crime is considered a felony and is punishable with prison time.

Govan was involved in a ring of 34 students. Many pleaded not guilty to the felony fraud and conspiracy charges while others were given lengthy prison terms. Govan pleaded to a lesser charge and received no jail time, as reported by Black Sports.
